**The opportunity**:
As an integral member of the Academic Advising team in the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Science, this position will be a positive and encouraging member with a strong focus on smoothing the transition of and helping motivate international students from the International College of Manitoba (ICM).

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for include (see posting on UM Careers for more details)**:

- Undergraduate degree in a related field of study is required.
- A Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba is preferred.
- Minimum two years of directly related student advising experience with the international student population, preferably from ICM or at the U of M, is required.
- Knowledge and experience with student support services is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Faculty of Science degree programs is required.
- Objectivity, patience, sympathetic and a conscientious approach are required.
- Must display cross-cultural sensitivity in working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Superb listening skills.
- Must demonstrate a genuine interest in assisting students, a high energy level, integrity and a positive attitude.
