**Salary**:$22.73 per hour, 4% vacation pay.

**Hours**: Part-time Special Contract Position, currently funded to March 31st, 2025

20 h/week. Occasional evenings and weekends required.

**Summary**:
Since 1975, Scadding Court Community Centre (SCCC) has served newcomers to Canada through settlement counselling, understanding their rights and responsibilities, and helping them integrate into a new life and culture. As a multi-service agency SCCC connects newcomers and other community members to a variety of services and programming including language training, social and recreational activities, entrepreneurship supports, urban agriculture programs, programs for families and children, seniors programming and more.

The _**Settlement Worker - Ukrainian**_ _**Speaking**_ provides support to newcomers and their families in their integration and settlement process. The support will engage clients in a holistic intake and assessment process to identify and prioritize settlement needs individually and for the family to develop settlement plans. The Settlement Worker will work closely with Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP) department to ensure quality service delivery and improved outcomes for newcomer clients. This position also involves one-on-one support for participants, working with other Scadding Court staff for cross-department opportunities, and working within timelines to meet goals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct outreach to Ukrainian immigrants and other newcomer communities
- Plan and deliver group programs such as settlement orientation, information sessions, workshops, newcomer support networks, self-help initiatives, and social/cultural/ recreational activities (number of programs to be assigned by Supervisor)
- Answer telephone inquiries and provide information and referral services
- Prepare monthly statistics and reports
- Develop flyers and resources relevant to newcomer communities, update such information and maintain the resources booths and boards in the office and Centre
- Liaise and develop a network with other associations and community agencies
- Support and provide direct services to relevant Scadding Court initiatives
- Assist and support Income Tax Preparation clinic
- Other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 2 years direct experience in the field of social or community work
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
- Experience in presentation and organizational skills, and some demonstrated research experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills required for supervision of volunteers
- Understanding of issues facing Ukrainian immigrants and other newcomer communities
- Flexibility to adapt to trends and needs of changing immigrant groups
- Demonstrated experience to function in a team setting
- Ability to relate to clients from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
- Knowledge of the local community is an asset
- Income Tax preparation an asset
