**ABOUT THE YOUTH & EDUCATION INITIATIVE**:
The Youth & Education Initiative works closely with Ocean Wise’s conservation initiatives (Seaforestation, Whales, Seafood and Plastics) to translate our world-class conservation research, knowledge and actions into exciting and engaging programs that empower individuals and communities to make meaningful behavioural changes that positively impact our ocean.

The Education team, as part of the Youth & Education Initiative, empowers K-12 students and their communities and equips them with skills to protect and restore our ocean through virtual programs that include Aquaclasses and Pro-D Workshops; asynchronous resources such as Discovery Kits and Education Kits for formal and informal educators; and in-person programs like Ocean Wise Sea Dome and other out in the community outreach programs.

**ROLE OVERVIEW**:
**Key Accountabilities**:
**Supports the planning and delivery of engaging mobile education programs, like the Ocean Wise Sea Dome, to cultivate interest and ultimately positive conservation actions in students and community members by**:

- Travel with the Ocean Wise Sea Dome across British Columbia during the school year and other locations as required;
- Risk Assessment and emergency protocols implementation travelling with the team.
- When not travelling with the Sea Dome, continue to book, develop, deliver and evaluate local programming;
- Participate in and supervise the delivery of mobile educational and community programs;
- Maintain positive on-going working relationships with clients (teachers, schools and festival organizers) attending programs to ensure future bookings;
- Provide guidance and assistance when warranted to the Educators;
- Communicate effectively with Mobile Education Manager, Assistant Manager and other departments in a timely fashion to ensure adequate supplies are available for programs;
- Maintain a good working knowledge of marine animals, ecosystems, and issues;
- Work to develop and implement new programs and activities;
- Assist with promotion and marketing of outreach programs and other education initiatives;
- Continually evaluate programs to ensure delivery of effective and engaging programs;
- In the absence of the Mobile Programs Manager or Assistant Manager, acting as backup.

**Provides administrative support, accountability and tracking for the Sea Dome program by**:

- Coordinate administrative aspects of Sea Dome or other mobile education programs delivery. This includes but is not limited to bookings, and connecting with schools, civic centres and event organizers prior the visit to ensure needs of the Sea Dome program are met;
- Work with event organizers to ensure Sea Dome site support is available and maintaining positive working relationships;
- Act as a link between booking contacts, Ocean Wise and the Mobile Programs team;
- Assist to ensure the Mobile Team continually strives to reduce environmental impacts and guarantees overall greening of operations;

**Contributes to the ongoing quality enhancements of Ocean Wise education programs by**:

- Design and customized programs for a variety of groups;
- Assist in the preparation of materials for advertising and scheduling programs.

**Other duties**:

- Care, monitoring and maintenance of Sea Dome systems and marine specimens as required;
- Assists the team with digital file management while they are offsite;
- Continually improve our impact on the environment and greening of operations;
- Maintain, support and follow organizational health and safety standards;
- Promptly aiding in Emergency protocols;
- Perform additional duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Education, Conservation or equivalent experience;
- One or more years of supervisory experience;
- A minimum of two years teaching/interpretation experience and experience with school age children/youth;
- Experience delivering innovative educational programs for school age students;
- Experience working closely with volunteers is an asset.

**Skills**
- Adaptable to change, flexible, and resilient when faced with uncertainty;
- Excellent teamwork ability - you will be working intensively with a small team on the road;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record;
- Capable and comfortable with driving fleet vehicles (minivan, pickup truck with a trailer, electric vehicle) - professional training is provided.
- Strong commitment to the environment and education;
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Strong communication and public speaking skills, able to communicate with audiences of all ages and learning abilities;
- Strong time management and administration skills;
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
- Enthusiastic, creative, and energetic with excellent customer service skills;
- General understanding of mechanical systems and vehicles is an asset;
