**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the project coordinator will provide support, and supervise the day-to-day on-site activities for the youth participants of the Eagle’s Nest First Nations Youth Program, following the cultural Medicine Wheel concept. The goal of the Eagles Nest Youth Program is to provide 60 First Nation youth, between the ages of 16 to 30, with training in areas of physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional skills and well-being over three intakes of four months each.

**Key Responsibilities**

Daily skill developmental activities in the following areas:

- Literacy building, group reading (reviews, internet research, daily journaling, meal preparation and nutritional values of food, computer literacy, internet and word-processing, community and education resource awareness and volunteerism.
- Encourage and develop self-confidence, self-esteem and pride building through social skills and strategies development, communication - written, oral and presentation skills, personal portfolio development, personal action planning.
- Activities facilitated by staff, workshop facilitators and/or community volunteers who can provide teaching or supports from the fields of education, health, life skills, First Nation culture, economics, politics, employment, training, and recreation.
- Supports include provision of employment references, personal and family advising through site, home, or coffee making visits, employment counselling, mentorship opportunities and volunteer opportunities.
- Transitional plan goal setting and counseling for employment, secondary or post-secondary schooling.

**Key Activities:
- Develop a Yearly Calendar (January to December, through Phases - Monday to Friday, excluding holidays) of daily programming, workshops, training, cultural activities.
- Develop recruitment strategy and process to select First Nations participants.
- Identify maximum 30 participants per intake for interviewing. 15 - 20 to be selected.
- Provide project participants orientation at the start of each Phase.
- Maintain daily and weekly attendance records for the project participants.
- Monitor progress of individual participants throughout the project, through case management.
- Develop personal portfolios for each participant.
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment is provided to all participants.
- Identify resources required to deliver workshops and presentations on:
public speaking, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR and Emergency First Aid, Food Handlers, Customer Service, ASIST, Racism and Cultural Awareness, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Education, Manitoba BEST (retail customer service Excellence of Service Excellence), WHMIS cultural activities and ceremonies.
- Coordinate and assist with cooking a daily nutritional program, breakfast, and lunch.
- Inspire participants to seek further education, training, and employment to be successful.
- Liaise with other agencies, stakeholders, and youth resource groups in the geographic areas.
- Compile information and maintain data of career development, education, and relevant social programming for First Nations youth.
- Provide youth with incentive at the end of each month based on daily attendance.
- Knowledgeable with processing cheque requisitions, purchase orders, reading general ledgers and keeping tracking record of expenditures through Excel spreadsheet.
- Report project activities, needs and progress to the EUTC Program Manager.
- Able to complete project activity reports, Interim and Final Reports, in compliance with project funding agreement.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education or combination of education and experience working with First Nations Youth.
- Proven experience in facilitating, presenting, public speaking and financial knowledge.
- Knowledge of challenges and issues facing First Nation youth and resulting strategies.
- Proficient research and analytical skills are required.
- Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in computerized systems Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook Calendar, Zoom and MS Myteams).
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to problem-solve and deal effectively with conflict.
- Must be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
