Here is what you will be doing:
The Symptom Management Program is situated within the Cancer Clinical Programs Portfolio and is closely aligned with the Oncology Nursing and Experience and Engagement Programs.

The Symptom Management Program aims to advance:
- Measurement of patient’s symptoms with validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs)- Patients’ ability to self-manage their symptoms with support of symptom management guides- Response to patient’s symptoms by their care team in a culturally safe, high-quality manner, with support of symptom management algorithms- Use of symptom data and tools to proactively identify patients likely to have high symptom management needs and plan to prevent and manage these symptoms/adverse events

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Initiatives:
- Plan and lead development of new symptom management tools and workflows, including an outpatient symptom management plan and symptom flagging workflows to be pilot tested in select regional cancer programs; this will include, but will not be limited to, leading expert consultations, preparing and reviewing materials to support the project, engaging Regional Cancer Programs to understand current state, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the projects are delivered on time, and developing evaluation plans- Lead development of strategies for proactive symptom management related to certain disease sites or treatment protocols- Lead and support enhancements to indicator methodology and reports on symptom management- Support system
- and regional-level performance measurement and management with an emphasis on using data for quality improvement- Work collaboratively to provide input and advice into the electronic Interactive Symptom Assessment and Collection tool (ISAAC), which collects patient-reported outcome (and experience) measures in oncology- Lead and support other projects related to the Symptom Management, Oncology Nursing and Experience & Engagement Programs, as needed

Overall:
- Actively manage multiple concurrent projects/initiatives, including identifying and effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders, managing project documentation, driving agendas, and providing input in a collaborative setting- Support the Symptom Management Program’s provincial and regional clinical leadership who provide guidance and thought leadership for the program, including planning for regular meetings- Work closely with Regional Cancer Programs to improve collection of and response to patient reported outcome measures (i.e., Your Symptoms Matter)- Develop content expertise in the technology, data, business intelligence and analytics that support the Symptom Management Program-
- Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative analyses of other sources of guidance and information related to topic areas of interest- Work with experts and available information to identify and assess Ontario health system barriers and challenges, and develop strategies to support uptake and implementation- Develop needs assessments, jurisdictional scans, briefing notes, options analyses, impact assessments, etc. to create program policies and guidance- Prepare reports, policy papers, briefing/issue notes, and presentations for a variety of audiences- Develop and present material using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills, with the ability to express complex concepts effectively to a variety of audiences- Deliver excellent tactical and critical strategic thinking with a health-equity lens- Approach problems proactively and recommend thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of complex problems- Provide management and stakeholders with status updates, feedback and appropriate reporting on projects- Promote collaboration and teamwork with internal
