**Position Description**:
The Sick**Ki**ds **C**ancer **S**equencing (**KiCS**) program is seeking a Program Manager to join our precision oncology team. The KiCS program integrates basic, translational and clinical research in the field of childhood, adolescent and young adult oncology. In this role, you will be a key member of the SickKids team that brings together experts in clinical care, genomics, proteomics, biomarker analysis, pathology, biobanking, bioinformatics and clinical trials. Working under the leadership of KiCS directors, the Program Manager will be responsible for operationalizing the vision and strategic plan of a high-profile and fast-paced clinical and research program. The KiCS program aims to incorporate next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies to improve our understanding of pediatric tumours and cancers, especially for hard-to-cure cancers and for which there is limited genomic knowledge.
The Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day and end-to-end management of the KiCS program, ensuring that all team members and the program have the resources available to be successful. They will act as an important link between the leadership team and the various stakeholders within and outside of the team, including research collaborators and clinical teams. They will be actively involved with all operational aspects of the program, including planning, budgeting, establishing workflows, standardization of processes and project reporting. The Program Manager will also be responsible for the methodical and appropriate documentation and tracking of all aspects of the program workflow, including but not limited to referrals, specimen(s) collection, processing and sequencing, reporting and impact monitoring. This position requires an individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills who can balance multiple competing priorities.**KEY TASKS**:
- Readily provide information to clinical teams for all referrals to KiCS and track enrollment.
- As part of a translational program, play a critical role in enforcing the mandated division between clinical and research program activities.
- Coordinate specimen(s) collection within the team and from internal or external departments.
- Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders providing specimen(s) and sequencing services; document or relay relevant information within the team as necessary, optimizing the utility of the specimen(s) within the program.
- Ensure meticulous data collection, tracking and storage; fulfill requests for data access in accordance with established procedures.
- Work closely with core team members to ensure a seamless workflow.
- Lead the development of standardized program documents and seek continuous improvement.
- Organize meetings for regular program activities and to advance projects as and when they are being planned and executed.
- Escalate program risks and issues to directors as needed and provide decision support.
- Promote and facilitate a collaborative team-based approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrate commitment to and support of organizational initiatives and values, and acts as a role model for staff and relevant stakeholders.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Master's degree in Health Science/Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in program management. PMP certification is an asset.
- A minimum of 3+ years experience. Experience in a scientific/research, health or academic work environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects, budgets, program finances, leading project teams and working with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly communicate with a range of stakeholders.
- Previous experience with electronic health records (e.g. Epic) and research databases (eg. REDCap) is an asset.
- Broad knowledge of the basis of cancers and/or tumors is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving
