About the Role:
Axiom Builders is looking for a
- Promote and encourage a customer-service and employee-friendly culture within the payroll department and within the company;
- Maintain positive relationships with staff at all levels (site and office) to answer questions, introduce new initiatives, etc;
- Assist with implementation of system/process changes and efficiencies;
- Process benefits plan enrollments, changes and terminations, RRSP contributions, and taxable benefits.
- Review electronic timesheet data and process bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees;
- Resolve and assist with outstanding payroll issues and questions;
- Manage employee changes, electronic employee profiles and documents received via our online ticketing system (rate changes, promotions, offers, etc) to ensure the accuracy of information within our systems and timely processing;
- Process terminations including record-keeping requirements (e.g. issue ROEs);
- Assist with benefits administration, payroll accounting: payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll GL accounts, resolve outstanding items, etc;
- Administer appropriate deductions, ensuring remittances are submitted (Garnishments, Workers Compensation);
- Work with Department Managers on ad-hoc payroll reporting and management training, while maintaining accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of payroll and benefits files and records.

You are detail-oriented and can manage payroll and benefits for several entities with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable with new technology and concepts and are eager to offer recommendations to implement ahead of Axiom Builder's exciting growth path.
- Required Skills and Experience_
- At least three (3) years of high-volume, multi-entity, payroll and benefits experience;
- Experience working with employees both in a non-unionized and unionized environment;
- Some form of payroll education or certification (PCP, CPM, CPA, PCL, etc);
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel;
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills;
- High level of professionalism and integrity with the ability to deal with highly confidential information;
- Experience working with payroll and electronic timekeeping software packages - Ceridian Dayforce and HH2 preferred;
- Previous experience with ERP and payroll/HR systems (such as Acumatica, UKG, Sage Timberline, etc);
- Prior experience within a job costing or construction environment is preferred;
- Proficient at working in a digital and paper-free environment.
