The Inuit Art Foundation is an Inuit-led charity providing support to Inuit artists working throughout Inuit Nunaat and beyond. As the sole national organization promoting Inuit art within Canada and internationally, we advocate for Inuit artists to be involved in all aspects of the marketing, promotion, and distribution of their work, as well as fair pricing, and copyright remuneration.

**About the Position**:
Reporting to, and working with, the Executive Director, the Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing and managing activities to increase, diversify and sustain philanthropic support from individuals, families, businesses and foundations. As a key member of the IAF Management team, the Development Director supports an organization-wide culture of philanthropy and creates an environment for fundraising success.

**To lead fundraising and strategy, the Development Director will**:

- Develop, implement and oversee a strategy to diversify fundraising at all levels
- Set acquisition, retention and financial goals for specific donors and donor segments
- Develop a strong base for support for the IAF, with impact at its core
- Manage and grow multi-channel direct response fundraising campaigns
- Maintain a roster of active donors, moving prospective donors from identification through to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
- Collaborate with departments to align and shape fundraising strategies and stewardship messages to support the strategic plan
- Identify key issues, social or political developments and emerging philanthropic and community trends that may impact philanthropy in Canada and the United States.

**The Development Director is a leadership position and will**:

- Provide vision and model approaches that embed and maintain a culture of philanthropy with staff and volunteers
- Provide vision and direction for fundraising and stewardship impact messages that align with the IAF values and reinforce its case for support
- Provide support and mentorship to the Development Coordinator

**To support the entire Inuit Artist Foundation, the Development Director will function as a team member and share in the responsibilities required to maintain operations and fulfill the mission. The Development Director will**:

- Provide results on fundraising and stewardship efforts to the rest of the team
- Work closely with the IAF program teams on content development and print and digital promotion
- Oversee efforts to maximize the CRM database, a customized version of Salesforce
- Attend internal and external events, which may involve travel

**Skills Required**:

- Previous experience with fundraising and donor relations - minimum 3 years
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
- Strong writing skills, particularly experience with fundraising and donor-centered communications, including compelling storytelling
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Salesforce
- Interest in Inuit artistic practice
- Interest in and ability to create fundraising systems that generate revenue and long
- term donor affinity while supporting Inuit self-determination

**Assets**:

- AFP membership and/or CFRE designation
- Experience in the arts sector
