The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horseracing, and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

The Human Resources and Organizational Development (HROD) Branch is actively searching for a skilled Human Resources Coordinator to enhance their dynamic team. Reporting to the Total Rewards and HRIS Lead, the HR Coordinator will provide efficient coordination and support for HR programs in areas including but not limited to compensation, benefits, pension, recruitment and HRIS. As a pivotal member, the Human Resources Coordinator will act as the first point of contact to staff to support with HR inquiries.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the administration, development, and maintenance of total rewards (compensation, pension and benefits) programs.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for general HR inquiries and provide support to programs and processes.
  • Manage the full-cycle talent acquisition process for Summer Student and Co-op Student Programs, including outreach to school and community partners.
  • Conduct pre- and post-onboarding activities with new hires and facilitate new hire onboarding procedures.
  • Support the configuration and maintenance of the HRIS.
  • Develop appropriate reports from the HRIS for corporate reporting and varying business needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of various HR projects, policies, programs and initiatives.
  • Manage HR records and general administration, including but not limited to: drafting employment/verification, salary/reporting change letters, filing HR records according to Records and Information Management (RIM) standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field.
  • Obtained or working towards a CHRP/CHRL designation would be an asset.
  • 3+ years of practical experience working in a human resources role, preferably in a unionized work setting.
  • Experience working with HRIS/ATS and leveraging the reporting function with a general understanding of system configuration.
  • Experience recruiting in corporate organizations with proficiency in behavioral and competency-based interviewing techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and comfort with mathematical operation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate information gathering and advise individuals of decisions or actions.
  • Knowledge of applicable HR legislation, such as ESA, AODA, OHS, Human Rights, etc.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
