THE ROLE Welcome to PSP Community Recreation in Wainwright. Here we offer programs and services to Canadian Armed Forces members, their families and the surrounding community. As the Community Recreation Coordinator, you will have direct oversight on everything we offer along with the supervision of a number of employees.
Each day will be different as you coordinate the details of community fitness, sports, arts and culture programming, civic events and oversee services such as libraries and membership offices. You will have a chance to expand your skills and share your passions as you mentor junior staff and volunteers all with the goal of improving the quality of life for our military.
In your role, you will work directly with the staff of the Recreation department to design, develop and implement new and innovative programs, events, trips and programs. The community in Wainwright is constantly changing and evolving, so it is crucial that you have the ability to adjust and tailor these programs to the community's needs.
Administratively, you will assist in the management of the department's budget, oversee the facility and membership management software, ensure recreation club compliance, implement policies and procedures and much more.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or Community Development, or a related field
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (successful completion by end of probation)
HIGH FIVE QUEST 2 (successful completion by end of probation)
HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (successful completion by end of probation)
Experience
In planning and evaluating the operations and delivery of recreation programs
In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
In budget administration
In personnel administration
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS English Essential / Bilingual (French) an asset

OTHER INFORMATION Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg).
