At Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS), we love what we do. And we live it too.
THE ROLEThe Community Recreation Supervisor plays an important role, providing quality leisure programs, services and facilities to our military members and their families.
Our services are tailored to help families with the challenges they may face due to military life and make the most of everyday activities such as going to the playground or day camp. We believe that when members of the Canadian Armed Forces are able to take good care of themselves and their families, they can do better both at home and at work. Whether families need to sign the kids up for swimming lessons, improve their fitness, make friends in a new community, our services are here to help.
Welcome to Community Recreation Wainwright, here we offer programs and services to not only CAF members and their families but also DND employees and the surrounding community. Your role will consist of developing and facilitating new and longstanding programs & services that align with our policies and membership program. We have many different aspects to the role and can tailor these to your strengths.
Do you have an interest in working with children and youth? Dive into our annual summer camp program where you will be responsible for managing a team of Rec Leaders along with designing and facilitating the program. You are also given the opportunity to show your innovation by creating new programs based on community needs.
If you are not experienced working with children/youth we offer adult only programs to interest the single soldiers on base. Maybe you’re more interested in administrative roles, we also have many programs that require daily management, consistent oversight and regular communication.
As a Rec Supervisor in Wainwright you have the opportunity to manage camps, classes, bus trips, small and large events and more. You will also be maintaining corporate partnerships by working with local organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
- High school diploma
- Certification in one recreation program area
- Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (successful completion by end of probation)
- HIGH FIVE QUEST 2 (successful completion by end of probation)
- HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (successful completion by end of probation)
Experience
- In planning, organizing and evaluating the operations and delivery of recreation programs
- In program development and instruction
- In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
- In supervising personnel
- In supervising the work of volunteers
- In budget administration
