Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the organization. In addition to overseeing the financial and administrative aspects, the Executive Director will drive operational planning and budgeting, governance and strategy development.

The ideal candidate will have experience in all operational, administrative, financial and legal aspects of an organization. They will:

  • be comfortable working with a volunteer board of directors
  • have capacity to set up and implement management systems, communications and branding, contracting and reporting, financial planning and oversight
  • have a solution-focused approach, and value innovation and creativity
  • be skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including member clubs, sports & government organizations, and volunteers
  • be available to attend meetings or events on evenings and weekends
  • be able to work with a flexible schedule
  • have the ability to be firm, while exercising good judgment and tact when dealing with sensitive issues
  • have a high level of organization and time management skills
  • have the ability to work independently, be a self-starter
  • have good creative thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the board to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and collaboration
  • Act as primary contact for SNB
  • Policy review and development
  • Communication – ensure registered members and clubs are kept up to date on the activities and opportunities on a timely basis
  • Registration – work with the provincial swim clubs to process swimmer, coach and committee member registration in accordance with Swimming Canada’s policies and procedures
  • Financial – maintain accounting for all financial transactions including accounts receivable, payable and general entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and SNB policies. Provide regular financial reporting to the Board of Directors. Work with SNB appointed firm to facilitate the annual review of the Financials
  • Attend regular Board of Directors meetings to provide an update on activities
  • Represent SNB with Sport NB, Swimming Canada and other stakeholders as needed
  • Provide support to SNB subcommittees and other staff as needed
  • Ensure SNB is compliant with all requirements of the Government of Canada, Government of New Brunswick, Swimming Canada, insurance, Worksafe, and any other regulatory bodies
  • Ensure funding opportunities are explored, and requirements are met

Qualifications

  • University degree, college diploma, or a combination of education and experience in Sport Management or equivalent related field required
  • Proven experience in leadership, relationship development and human resources
  • Knowledge of sports, specifically swimming
  • Proven ability to work independently and with a team
  • Experience working with a board of directors, board governance and volunteers
  • Strong experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, accounting systems and budgeting
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral. Bilingualism (French & English) an asset
  • Proven computer literacy in MS Office products
