In our new Compensation Specialist role, you will collaborate closely with the People and Culture (HR) team and business unit leaders across the entire organization. This role involves analyzing compensation data, conducting market research, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and collaborating with HR and management to develop competitive compensation strategies that attract and retain top talent.

  • This role is remote-first, and we expect attendance at quarterly meetings in person at our Oakville offices. Someone could work from a home office or travel into one of our offices in Grimsby or Oakville if preferred.
    • Compensation Analysis: Analyze internal and external compensation data to ensure competitive pay structures. Conduct market surveys and benchmark compensation against industry standards.
    • Employee Consultation: Provide guidance and support to employees regarding compensation-related inquiries, policies and programs.
    • Training: Develop and deliver training sessions for HR staff and management on compensation practices and policies.
    • Projects: Act as a subject-matter-expert on various business unit incentive plan discussions, and contribute ideas and industry insights to help create creative solutions. Inclusive of adhoc projects and programs that support APL’s Strategy Plan.
      • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Sociology or related area and/or equivalent work experience.
      • Sales, Retail or CPG industry experience an asset.
      • Experience in interpretation and statistical analysis of market data.
      • Project management experience and ability to plan, schedule and deliver both long- and short-term projects, with consideration to stakeholders and adherence to strict deadlines.
      • Highly skilled with Excel and MS Office programs.
      • Experience with HRIS systems, Dayforce is considered an asset.
      • Strong written, verbal and relationship building skills.
