Role Overview:

We are looking for a part-time Human Resources Manager, a generalist, to be responsible for providing comprehensive support in various HR functions ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the HR department. This role supports the administration and coordination of team members’ onboarding, recruitment, training, HR data management, employee relations, compliance, and policies. This position requires an organized and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Management, Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Oversees the full recruitment cycle including assisting in the development of recruitment strategies and activities (e.g., sourcing candidates, assisting hiring managers with conducting interviews, etc.).

  • Prepares employment agreements and ensures that reference checks and background checks are completed for all final candidates as needed.

  • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes exit interview trends to summarize and present them to Management

  • Onboards and manages the orientation of all new and returning employees and ensures employees receive proper training appropriate for their position (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety for Workers and Supervisors).

  • Coordinate employee offboarding processes, including internal communications, exit interviews, gather necessary paperwork, and update employee records as needed.

Compliance and Training and Development

  • Communicates and enforces all HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.

  • Identifies vertical and lateral opportunities for advancement or progression for employees, understanding the skills, experiences, and personal and professional competencies necessary for success in each new role.

  • Support with various HR policy development and implementation.

  • Assist with coordinating various training initiatives for the Company.

  • Maintain training records and track employee participation, following up when necessary.

  • Updates annual Training Calendar and ensures training requirements are met based on needs analysis.

Employee Engagement & Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries.

  • Respond to employee inquires in a timely manner and provides proactive solutions to day-to-day challenges.

  • Assist managers with coaching, performance discussions, follow-up on timelines and ensuring that all employees’ Development Action Plans (“DAP’s) are identified.

  • Assist with the development and management of a performance appraisal process that aligns with business needs and drives high performance.

  • Responds to employee inquiries in a timely manner and provides proactive solutions to day-to-day challenges.

  • Provides recommendations on employee relations practices with a view to establishing a positive employee-employer relationship and promoting a high level of employee engagement.

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and company-wide activities.

  • Support on Company Diversity, Equity and Inclusion projects and initiatives.

  • Assists in conducting workplace investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth and escalating to the Managers or the CEO, when required.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education in Human Resources or related field

  • Minimum 3 years Human Resources Generalist experience; preferably in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

  • Professional Human Resources Designation is preferred (CHRP), but not required.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of human resources policies and procedures including employment and labour laws (i.e., ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code etc.)

  • Ability to review HR issues and apply critical thinking to develop effective solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent sense of time management and prioritization.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to influence, negotiate and facilitate with confidence and passion.

  • An agile approach to tackling HR projects & deliverables that vary (strategic & tactical).

  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new applications and systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to cater to specific audiences.

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.

  • Excellent ability to maintain confidentiality and tact and handle sensitive information.

  • Proactive and forward-thinking mindset.
