Job Responsibility:

Hardwood Giant Flooring is a leading name in the flooring industry, committed to quality and customer satisfaction. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to our continued success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Oversee banking activities, including reconciliations, deposits, and account management.
  • Maintain a client database and review the full cycle of bookkeeping processes (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and payroll).
  • Responsible for month-end close procedures including the preparation of all month-end journal entries and management financial reporting.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and perform monthly reconciliations, including reconciled reporting.
  • Prepare, file, and calculate monthly GST & HST returns, WSIB, payroll liabilities, ROEs, and other regulatory filings.
  • Assist with year-end audits and file corporate income tax returns, ensuring accurate tax recording and claiming appropriate rebates.
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals.
  • Conduct detailed reviews and negotiations of property leases and contracts based on business needs.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through data analysis and establish the KPI process.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure efficient company-wide operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of organizational information.
  • Continuously evaluate accounting processes and reporting, looking for increased efficiencies and better information for management decision-making; and identify and provide solutions to processes.
  • Complete special projects, ad-hoc requests, and various other duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent combined education and work-related experience.
  • At least five years of experience in general accounting, with a well-rounded knowledge of cost accounting concepts.
  • A strong understanding of Accounting Standards and Practices is required.
  • Professional designation (CPA) obtained or in progress.
  • Advanced working knowledge of financial computerized software and systems, QuickBooks, analytical skills, and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize information.
  • Dynamic personality and a positive attitude. Experience in the retail/manufacturing industry is a huge asset.
