We are seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to join our expanding organization and play a pivotal role in supervising the Financial Accounting Team's operations, ensuring the precision of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial outcomes, while spearheading various projects and initiatives aimed at process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Guarantee the completeness and accuracy of the Dormez-vous? general ledger and subsidiary ledgers in alignment with IFRS and corporate policies.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes while actively pursuing improvements in efficiency and quality.
  • Review high-risk balance sheet accounts and ensure timely completion of account reconciliations with quality reviews.
  • Support the approval of manual journal entries, providing guidance and training to the team as necessary.
  • Monitor accounting and financial policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS and corporate guidelines.
  • Ensure that complex or new transactions are accurately accounted for, documented, and implemented in accordance with IFRS and corporate policies.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing effective operational and financial controls, including evaluating current accounting and internal control systems, offering recommendations for enhancements, and executing new processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax obligations, including all tax filings (income taxes, sales taxes, and withholding tax returns).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards for departmental and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc financial analyses as required.

Process Enhancements, Projects, and Operational Support

  • Critically assess the operations of the Financial Accounting Services Team, identifying and implementing enhancements that foster innovation and efficiency for the department and the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to implement processes and controls, representing Finance's interests in the organization's strategic initiatives to ensure appropriate accounting, controls, and reporting are established.
  • Drive the optimization of new and existing accounting systems and platforms.
  • Identify challenges, take initiative, make recommendations, and execute necessary actions to ensure successful project completion.
  • Develop and implement strategies for socialization, implementation, and change management concerning process modifications.
  • Support the Controller and the Finance Leadership team as needed.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise the Accounting Team (Manager and 6 Senior Accountants), providing performance feedback, coaching, and training to ensure effective departmental operations.
  • Allocate resources to support core deliverables and new tasks or projects.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA designation is mandatory.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in a retail or manufacturing setting, including a minimum of 3-4 years in public accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and internal controls.
  • Proven experience in people management, mentoring, and leading teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, project management, organizational, relationship-building, negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • A quick learner with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders and build strong partnerships.
  • Experience with inventory and/or income tax is a significant advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (Intermediate-Advanced) and PowerPoint.
