Be our next Office Person, Junior Inspector
Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Contract Administration team, of the Transportation sector, based in our Hamilton, Cambridge Ontario office(s) and have the opportunity to work on the MTO and municipal projects.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
- Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments for work performed.
- Prepare daily site observation report and maintain a daily photograph log.
- Assist the Contract Administrator in preparing various internal/external reports and other status reports to client.
- Assist the Contract Administrator with the review of contractor submissions (critical path schedules, field changes, monthly payment certificates etc.) for compliance with contractual obligations.
- Confirm the appropriate qualifications and certifications for all contractor employees, resources, and equipment.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
What your experience looks like
Experience working with MTO projects, the individual for the Office Person / Junior Inspector shall perform the duties of both positions, as necessary. The Office Person duties shall be those typically performed by an Administrative Assistant in an office environment. The efficient functioning of the field office is a key component of the Contract Administration activity. The field office functions as a communications and records centre in support of the Contract Administrator, the Project Manager, and other field staff. The individual in the office position must (in addition to the normally expected paperwork, communication and organization requirements and the ability to meet deadlines independently and under pressure) be generally familiar with field construction activities.
The Office Person / Inspector must possess :
- Registration with OACETT as a C.E.T., C.Tech., rcji.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven analytical and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate laws and regulations (environmental, health and safety, etc.).
- Knowledge of MTO CAIS Manual and CMS.
- Thorough understanding of design standards, Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications/Standard drawings (OPSS/OPSD’s), and methods and materials associated with municipal/highway construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word and Excel).
- Previous experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D would be considered an asset.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to construction site.
- Able to work overtime, on weekends and nights as required.
- The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter with enthusiasm, flexibility, and motivation.
