**Role at a Glance***:
Working in the civil engineering team under the supervision of the Field Service Manager, the Intermediate Civil Inspector is responsible for resident and part-time inspection of high-profile projects in a variety of sectors, including municipal reconstruction, land development, and site development. They will also conduct Quality Assurance Reviews and assist with Contract Administration duties to ensure well-orchestrated project delivery.
As an Intermediate Civil Inspector will be a strong knowledge leader and representative for WalterFedy, building strong rapport with all project stakeholders. This role requires excellence in organization, management, and communication throughout all stages of the project cycle as well as the ability to support and coordinate junior staff.

**What You Will Do**:
- Effectively oversee all aspects of project construction, providing temporary and resident inspection of various projects such as site developments, municipal reconstruction, and sub-divisions.
- Liaise with the contractor, owner, residents, utility companies, local municipalities, and other external agencies throughout the construction period.
- Prepare contract documents including quantity take off, form of tender items and special provisions progress payments, inspection reports, instruction notices etc.
- Prepare quality assurance review of design drawings and contract documents at various project milestones.
- Consult and provide field experience and constructability reviews, assisting project managers and designers with design of various municipal, subdivisions and site plan development projects.
- Provide technical oversight to other field review and inspector staff
- Review contract documents prior to construction and identify details and construction methods that need corrective action
- Ensure the contractor constructs the projects in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
- Review progress on site versus the contractor-provided schedule, and report and advise of any inconsistencies to the Owner and Project Manager
**What You Bring to the Table**:
- Strong understanding of, and enforcement of, contractual obligations and legal issues
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of design and inspection experience in a consulting engineering or municipal environment, preferably in Ontario
- College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology is required, or equivalent combination of experience
- Excellent knowledge of OPSS, DGSSMS and other relevant Canadian/Ontario codes and standards
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- C.E.T., EIT, P.Eng, Gold Seal, Trade License or Master Trade License is an asset
**Working Conditions and Safety**:
Time spent in this role will be both on site and in the office, depending on the needs of the project. Offsite site inspection work will include field review and verifying site data, and hours will vary based on project demands. Some overtime will be required. In this role, you will work within the company safety policies and procedures and adhere to any applicable federal or provincial legislation.
