Course number and title: MIE342H1 - Circuits with Applications to Mechanical Engineering Systems
Course description: This course presents analysis of complex circuits and application of circuit principles to design circuits for mechanical engineering systems. Discussions will center around circuits and instrumentation. In-depth discussions will be given on a number of topics:
- Mechatronics design applications of circuit principles
- Network theorems, node-voltage, mesh-current method, Thévenin equivalents
- Operational amplifier circuits
- 1st and 2nd order circuits
- Laplace transform, frequency response
- Passive and active filter design (low- and high-pass filters, bandpass and bandreject filters)
- Interface/readout circuits for mechanical engineering systems, sensors, instrumentation
- Inductance, transformers, DC/AC machines
- Digital circuit and data sampling introduction

Sessional dates of appointment: September to December 2024
Salary: $13,000 (per half course inclusive of vacation pay) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have a strong record of presenting lectures or acting as a teaching assistant.
