Position Overview: The University of Toronto is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Sessional Lecturer for a course focused on contemporary issues in Cell Biology. Course Description: The course will consist of lectures, seminars, and discussions that encourage students to delve into the latest findings in cellular microbiology and host-pathogen interactions. Participants will engage in student-led seminars following a series of lectures and journal club discussions, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates should possess or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in a relevant field. A strong background in cellular microbiology and familiarity with current literature is essential. Previous teaching experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering engaging lectures.
  • Facilitating student discussions and guiding seminar presentations.
  • Assessing student performance through quizzes, written assignments, and a final examination.
  • Holding office hours to support student learning.
  • Performing administrative tasks related to the course.

Additional Information: This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, which outlines the terms of employment and compensation. Preference will be given to candidates who have advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III, in accordance with the collective agreement.
