Position Overview: The University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Sessional Lecturer for a course focused on contemporary issues in Cell Biology.

Course Description: This course will involve a combination of lectures, seminars, and discussions centered around current topics in Cell Biology. Participants will engage with primary research literature, gaining insights into experimental methodologies and designs that elucidate cellular phenomena. The course will include student-led seminars following a series of lectures and journal club discussions.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in a relevant field, with a strong background in cellular microbiology and host-pathogen interactions. Familiarity with the latest research literature is essential, and prior teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and delivering engaging lectures.
  • Facilitating student discussions and providing guidance.
  • Assessing student presentations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Creating and grading quizzes, written assignments, and a final examination.
  • Holding office hours to support student learning.
  • Performing miscellaneous administrative tasks as required.

Additional Information: This position is governed by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. It is important to note that some job postings may be subject to change based on course enrollment and final determinations.

Preference: Hiring preference will be given to candidates who have advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with the collective agreement.
