Position Overview:
The University of Toronto is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Sessional Lecturer for the course EAS296H1S, focusing on significant themes in East Asian Studies.
Course Information:
Course Title: Sessional Lecturer EAS296H1S - Topics in East Asian Studies
Course Synopsis: This course offers an exploration of Chinese and/or Korean cultural narratives, historical contexts, and literary contributions, with a particular emphasis on the cultural dimensions of food and consumption. The specific content will be determined by the instructor.
Anticipated Class Size: Approximately 80 students
Teaching Assistance: None
Class Schedule: Wednesdays from 5 PM to 7 PM
Appointment Duration: January 1 to April 30, 2025
Compensation:
Salary for Sessional Lecturers varies based on experience and qualifications, with rates starting at $9, including vacation pay, and increasing for long-term positions and higher ranks.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: A completed PhD in a relevant field is essential, alongside substantial graduate-level work and a commitment to ongoing academic development.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in university-level teaching is highly regarded, particularly with demonstrable excellence in teaching evaluations.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing and preparing lesson plans and lectures
- Delivering engaging lectures
- Creating and managing assessments, including assignments, tests, and examinations
- Providing scheduled office hours for student consultations

Closing Remarks:
