The Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing best practice calibration solutions and performing diagnostic verification testing. You will have the opportunity to develop new OBD strategies for engine and hybrid propulsion control systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Manage all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet CARB regulations.
  2. Identify system requirements during system hardware design to ensure a robust diagnostic system.
  3. Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis.
  4. Calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB regulations.
  5. Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Years of experience in diagnostic systems calibration development
- Experience using Matlab and Simulink/Stateflow
- Basic understanding of electrified propulsion system hardware and function
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and business acumen
- Self-motivated/proactive with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications
- Remote position with occasional travel to the US for meetings/trainings (Occasional meaning 1-2 times per month)
- Driving a Client vehicle required.

Preferred Requirements:
- Years of experience in OBD calibration, propulsion system calibration, OBD Controls or propulsion controls within the electric, gasoline or diesel industry (e.g., Formula SAE or similar programs)
- Experience with calibration/tuning of algorithms and devices (not necessarily a vehicle) - DIY projects on rapid prototyping platforms
- Understanding of basic statistics
- Proven experience in a "mostly-remote-working" position - ability to meet deadlines and deliver results without day-to-day instructions
- Experience with INCA, Minitab, C++, and Visual Basic.

Additional Must Haves:
- Understanding/Experience with OBD concepts, beyond the mere use of a service scantool
- Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of vehicle architectures and communication buses such as CAN/LIN, along with the understanding of systems and actuators used in an electrified vehicle.
