Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist - Due Diligence & Team Lead

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Environmental Due Diligence support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments.
  • Assistance with multimedia permitting (air, water, waste) and compliance efforts, including on-site environmental, health and safety (EH&S) compliance support at client facilities for:
    • Permitting, sampling, and reporting efforts
    • Classification, inventory, and handling of hazardous materials
    • Auditing regulatory compliance and management systems at the plant and corporate levels
    • Developing EH&S management training materials.
    • Regulatory research
    • Data handling and analysis
    • Travel and participation in field activities.
  • Undertake client management and business development
  • Establishing, building and leading projects, operations and business activities.
  • Team management, including:
    • Technical and quality review of client deliverables
    • Provide feedback and mentorship to team members on deliverables and throughout entire project lifecycle to ensure strong technical delivery to clients and technical growth in team members
    • Effective senior management of projects including scoping, project team assignments, and delegation
    • Recruiting, integration, and career development of team members to support skills and experience needs of client projects
Qualifications/Education
  • 10-15 years of direct experience in environmental compliance programs, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, and environmental due diligence, environmental compliance auditing and support, and related consulting with a solid foundation in technical and regulatory subject areas specifically understanding of:
    • U.S. federal and state environmental regulations (knowledge of state-specific and any international regulations a plus) Prior management experience required and developing others
    • U.S. health, safety, and transportation regulatory programs
    • EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
    • Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ASTM 1527-21)
    • Language and methods of M&A transactions and environmental due diligence, liability estimates, and environmental risk mitigation
    • Experience with leading and conducting environmental compliance audits, assessments, and inspections to determine compliance with Federal, state, and local standards and company and agency environmental policies and procedures
