About the Director, Demand Generation role

We’re looking for an outstanding Director, Demand Generation to join Float, a team that’s building the best business finance platform for Canadian companies and teams. The primary focus of the role will be on achieving rapid customer acquisition growth through digital marketing, SEO and website optimization. This role reports to Float’s Growth Marketing Lead and works cross functionally with our Product Marketing, Brand, Sales and Customer Success teams. 

As the Director, Demand Generation at Float you will:

  • Craft full funnel digital marketing strategies, leveraging multiple channels, website conversion strategies and seamless sales hand-offs to drive scalable pipeline and revenue.
  • Own our end-to-end performance marketing, from strategy through to execution. Staying on top of the newest trends, releases and algorithm changes to generate the most pipeline from our ads budget.
  • Own the technical marketing implementation,  setting up the platforms, tools and operational systems required to automate and scale our digital strategies.  
  • Execute innovative SEO strategies that reach the right targets, capture their interest, and contribute to Float’s overall pipeline and growth objectives. 
  • Develop an extensive test-and-learn roadmap by adapting strategies based on insights and industry trends. Measure, analyze, learn and iterate on campaign tactics, using data to assess success metrics, goal attainment, ROI, and areas for improvement.
  • Scale successful strategies by building a cohesive team, testing and learning within current and new digital channels to demonstrate ROI, and rapidly scaling approaches as soon as they show positive indicators of success.

You’ll be great in this role if:

  • You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 10+ years of B2B marketing experience, ideally with a bachelor’s degree (though that’s not required). You have previously been accountable to and successful in owning demand results, and can operate at both the strategy and execution level as needed. 
  • You have owned and been accountable to full-funnel strategies. The marketing funnel is your best friend. You’ve led and executed strategies from demand creation through to demand capture that exceed pipeline targets. 
  • You’re motivated by testing and learning. You don’t have all the answers but you do know how to find them. You’re closely aligned with a “test and find out” mindset and understand how to get the insight out of your results. 
  • You’re curious to understand the ‘why’. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the ‘why’ behind every answer. You’re a curious thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with great creativity.  Finding unique and novel ways to work through obstacles is fun for you. 
  • You’re an exceptional leader. You have experience managing people and understand how to build a high-performing team for maximum pipeline growth potential. 

This role won’t be a fit if:

  • You prefer a highly structured work environment

  • You are not comfortable working collaboratively and cross-functionally
  • You are not comfortable with ambiguity, iteration or a fast-moving environment 
  • You are uncomfortable with receiving and giving direct feedback

  • You aren’t super passionate about helping Float build the best business finance platform for Canadian companies and teams
