IT Support Specialist – Full Time


Position Overview

Join our dynamic IT team as an IT Support Specialist, where you'll be the cornerstone of our technical support, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional assistance to our end-users. This pivotal role involves a hands-on approach to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring a smooth technological experience for all. This position is based onsite at our Calgary location, requiring your physical presence to effectively manage and resolve technical queries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Apply your troubleshooting expertise to diagnose and resolve common IT issues, providing effective support via phone, email, and in person with good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • System Upgrades: Manage upgrades for PC hardware, software and network, enhancing system performance and efficiency.
  • Operating System Support: Offer skilled assistance across Windows and Mac operating systems, ensuring a broad range of technical support.
  • Hardware and Peripheral Maintenance: Troubleshoot computer, printer, networking and peripheral issues, maintaining optimal functionality.
  • Account Management: Handle new account setups across Microsoft Exchange and MS Active Directory.
  • Office 365 Assistance: Deliver support for Office 365 applications, promoting efficient use and productivity.
  • Network Management: Knowledge of basic networking principles. Experience with Cisco, Sophos devices and understanding of OSI model and Wireless systems and Firewalls, VPN.
  • Backup Management: Knowledge of basic Backup principles, local NAS and Cloud storage systems.
  • Security Management: Knowledge of Antivirus products and Security best practices, anti-spam and anti-phishing.
  • Ticket Management: Efficiently utilize our Help Desk ticketing system for logging and tracking support requests, ensuring timely resolutions. Experience with Connectwise is an asset.
  • Asset Management: Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records, managing IT assets and licenses.
  • System Deployment: Image and deploy computers, ensuring standardized configurations for new users.
  • Training and Support: Provide essential training and support to staff, enhancing their use of technology resources.
  • Audio-Visual Support: Assist in the setup and maintenance of A/V systems for meetings and presentations.
  • Firewall /Router Programming: Configure and maintain firewall and router settings to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Network Design: Develop and implement network infrastructure designs to support organizational needs, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Wifi Systems Design, Implementation, and Support: Design, deploy and maintain WIFI systems, providing comprehensive support to ensure seamless wireless connectivity.
  • After-Hours Availability: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide extended support outside business hours, ensuring continuous system availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, Technical School graduate or equivalent IT experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years applied IT experience at Tier II / Tier III levels.
  • Strong knowledge of managed switching & network infrastructure. LAN/WAN Technologies.
  • Expert level knowledge configuring and troubleshooting Windows 10/11.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012 and above as well as knowledge of Virtualization technologies; VMWare, Hyper-V.
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
  • Microsoft Office 365 / Azure / Azure AD.
  • AD user management, understanding of Group Policy Management.
  • VoIP unified communication platforms (internal and cloud based).
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Sophos networking devices.
  • Knowledge of Anti-Virus and security products.
  • Networking, Server, Desktop, Azure, Office 365 Certifications a plus.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
