Role Responsibilities

This role will report to the Manager of Strategic Procurement & Contracts while supporting the Director of Strategic Procurement, Contracts and Placement Resources, Executive Director of Policy, Practice and Program Development Branch and the ADM of the Child Intervention Division.

The Procurement and Contract Coordinator is a vital role for the Strategic Procurement and Contracting team in the Policy, Practice, and Program Development branch. This role brings essential technical skills, offering expertise in navigating intricate procurement processes, contract management systems, and vendor relations. Equipped with proficiency in relevant software and tools, the coordinator ensures seamless execution of procurement activities while maintaining compliance with evolving regulations and standards. With a strong foundation in project management skills, the coordinator effectively coordinates and prioritizes tasks, streamlining workflows and optimizing resource allocation within the team. 

Additionally, the Procurement and Contract Coordinator plays a pivotal role in research and development activities, conducting literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, and program evaluations, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning. Their strong organizational skills support the project organization of numerous strategic procurement initiatives being run by the Contract Specialists, ensuring efficient execution and timely delivery of key projects.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Business and 2 years related experience. 

Equivalencies: 

Masters degree and 1 year related experience; or · Related university degree and 4 years related experience; or · Related diploma and 5 years related experience; or · Related certificate and 6 years related experience. 

Note : Equivalency for professional roles related to Child Intervention: Directly related degree or diploma, successful completion of in-service or comparable training and 2 years of directly related experience. 

The ideal candidate should possess:
• A proven track record in procurement and contract management, preferably in a governmental or large organizational setting.
• Experience with strategic procurement initiatives, contract negotiations, and vendor management. 
• Familiarity with government procurement policies, regulations, and procedures. 
• Previous experience in project management, particularly in coordinating procurement activities, is an asset.
• Strategic business and operational planning theories, methodologies, principles and techniques. 
• Innovative and creative thinking as well as strategic thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Assets

Sound knowledge and understanding of: 

• Project management, change management and issues management. 
• Related legislation, regulations, directives and policies. 
• Familiarity with financial tracking, procurement, contract or grant management, Action Requests, and other corporate processes preferably within the Government of Alberta.
