Regional Technical Manager

Where the Chemistry Happens...

We are looking for a Regional Technical Manager to be responsible for managing and leading a high performing team of Technical Service staff within Saskatchewan. In this role, talent development of the Technical Service team is a high priority as you will set consistent objectives and goals for the team as a whole and to support achieving the strategic imperatives of Agricultural Solutions Canada.

As Regional Technical Manager, you will work closely with Marketing, Breeding, and our Agronomic Excellence teams and assume leadership and responsibility for all commercial facing technical elements associated with InVigor Canola.

Formula for Success: You Will...
  • Support the Market Manager in developing mid to long-term portfolio strategies for the assigned markets. These strategies focus on optimizing profitability for BASF, identifying growth opportunities, life cycle management responsibility (long range plan and post patent strategies) and providing customer needs-based solutions.
  • Lead technical research and demonstration projects that show the technical benefits of the BASF product lines for internal and external customers. Results of the research and demonstration programs must be summarized and integrated into training, selling and technical support output distributed to both internal and external customers.
  • Support the sales organization to achieve income objectives primarily via interaction with resourcing of the Technical Service Specialists, providing the key guidance, leadership, and training associated with the assigned indication.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key customer agronomic contacts within the channel and work with our Strategic Accounts team in a coordinated effort.
  • Through management of the Technical Service Specialists, provide marketing support by direct interaction with specific Crop Management units in the development and implementation of its annual business plans.
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...
  • M.Sc. in Agriculture/Biology with emphasis on crop science, weed science, agronomy, entomology, plant pathology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' relative field experience, with a demonstrated ability to recommend product positioning based on evaluating data and customer needs.
  • Experience in working with growers, distribution/retail, universities, or consultants would be beneficial.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with audiences of varying backgrounds. Must be able to relate with the key influencer contacts on market issues and develop joint strategies or processes with customers.
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with others. Actively participate on teams to solve problems or achieve team goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a wide variety of people and groups not reporting directly to the position. Strong organizational and time management skills are also essential.
  • Must be skilled at development and delivery of presentations to both external and internal customers. Excellent computer skills and proficient in various software programs, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Key influencer relationships are well developed such that partnerships on research projects, training curriculum development and implementation are fostered.
