Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada's multimedia station serving the Ottawa region is looking for a Senior Manager, Operations and Production. Reporting directly to the Director, Operations and Production, and working closely with media line partners, you will be primarily responsible for technology projects and production infrastructure.

You will be responsible for planning, directing and leading technology projects and rollouts as well as employees supporting division operations. You will also evaluate and recommend equipment acquisitions and capital projects needed to optimize the technical quality of productions as well as the performance of human, physical and financial resources allocated to technical production.

You bring wide-ranging knowledge of production methods, technologies and systems, along with management experience in a technical field related to multiplatform production.

Key responsibilities:
  • Communicate overall strategic objectives and ensure business priorities are set for your division. Develop an action plan for achieving those objectives and follow up with teams.
  • Draft strategic plans and estimates for technology projects.
  • Co-ordinate closely with T&I for technology and engineering project rollouts.
  • Make recommendations to management on technology strategy.
  • Supervise the work of technical producers and their teams: take part in hiring, training, and evaluation processes.
  • Work jointly and confidentially with all production partners, human resource representatives and the unions in connection with the various committees, labour disputes and contingency plans.
  • Sit on local, regional and national committees upon request and perform any other task assigned by management.
What you bring:
  • University or community college graduation in a media-related field
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years' experiences in a production centre, including five (5) years in a management or supervisory role
  • Open, critical mind and managerial courage
  • Very good judgment in order to make important, on-the-spot decisions
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Proven change management skills
  • Relevant experience in technical and financial resource management
  • Advanced, extensive knowledge of production infrastructure
  • Experience managing and applying a collective agreement
  • Ability to listen and understand a vision in order to ascertain production teams' true needs
  • Ability to unite and co-ordinate people
  • Thorough knowledge of the latest technologies in order to continually stay abreast of changes in the media environment
  • Bilingualism (English/French, spoken and written)
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
