The HR Business Advisor - Corporate & Investment Management reports to the Vice President, Human Resources and will play a key role in providing a comprehensive and proactive HR service to investment management employees. This includes supporting and leading on HR programs and policies, performance management, talent development, employee relations, and HR project support. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, articulate communicator and relationship builder who possesses the ability to multi-task and adapt as priorities and initiatives change. The role will interact with employees at all levels and will work closely with all members of the Human Resources team.

This role can be based in Toronto or Vancouver.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive HR support and advice to employees and managers on various policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provide thoughtful advice to the business, equipping managers with the proper tools, knowledge, and support to solve problems and mitigate risk while enhancing the employee experience.
  • Develop internal business knowledge and build strong relationships in order to function as a credible, trusted advisor across all levels of the internal client base.
  • Establish new HR projects and initiatives that are in line with the company's strategic goals.
  • Advise and coach managers on employee relations matters. This includes identifying risks to the business, disciplinary action, employee investigations, and performance improvement planning.
  • Support managers during the recruitment process by creating/updating job descriptions and coaching them through the deep-dive interview process.
  • Foster meaningful performance and development discussions with managers.
  • Prepare correspondence, including termination letters, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Work alongside the Benefits team in support of disability management and the employee leave process.
  • Work alongside HR leadership and Total Rewards teams to support the performance and compensation review process and to provide guidance on employee salary ranges; analyze external market data and benchmark against internal relativity.
  • Liaise between employees and legal counsel regarding relocation and immigration-related requests.
  • Provide support and mentorship to HR Coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of HR experience in a corporate environment.
  • University Degree in Human Resources, Business or another related field. CHRP designation or working toward is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal HR legislation, HR policies and HR best practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality; show tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature.
  • Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight and multiple deadlines.
  • Well versed in all Microsoft Office programs,
  • Experience with HRIS system (Workday) and LMS systems is preferred
