Job Description
Role: SQL Engine Support Engineer
Location: Calgary, Canada
- Experience with MS SQL Server or an equivalent database product – Must have.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and SQL database optimization and problem solving role – Must have.
- Experience with Relational Database management systems and concepts
- High Availability: Failover clusters, Always-on availability groups and replication
- Experience/Knowledge of Windows Server Cluster Services in On-Premise environments
- Experience in MSSQL Server Performance - CPU, Memory, High usage and database maintenance
- Knowledge Backup and restore operations on the databases
- Knowledge in database migration.
- Knowledge on Installation and upgrades.
- Experience in Database and Server Administration
- Should be able to deploy and Troubleshoot SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances etc.
Soft Skill:
- Leadership - handle technically challenging and politically sensitive customer situations
- Strong communications skills – Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- Effective, polished interaction with customer to gather information quickly; explain customer responsibilities in resolving issue; communicate next steps and status; and inspire confidence
- The successful Support Engineer has the drive and intellectual horsepower to resolve difficult customer issues; directly supports customers through telephone, email, and chat services as applicable
- Demonstrable troubleshooting skills
- Cross-team collaboration
