We are looking for a Growth Lead, D&O and Crime Specialist to support our team

Job Summary:

A Management Liability Specialist, for Private, NFP, and Public D&O business and ancillary lines such as Crime, EPL, and Fiduciary liability that will be primarily focused on driving and identify business opportunities for our Central and Atlantic team while building strong broker engagement and fostering the team culture around sales and winning service.

This role is hybrid and based in the GTA out of the Toronto Intact office. The individual will work collaboratively with our business development team while focusing on the teams' specific initiatives and D&O/Crime relationships to developing and monitoring the implantation strategies of regional underwriting projects to help maximize profit while driving submission volumes, prospects and selling our unique product offering and coordinating the team efforts across Central and Atlantic for the team.

This role reports to Magdalena Arriagada - Manager, D&O and Crime Specialty Lines.


What you'll do here:

  • Develop a clear and tailored growth and broker strategy, and support the manager to achieve the Central & Atlantic Management Liability team's top line objectives that maintain a strong level of profitability.
  • Be market present and drive key relationships in the financial lines space building a clear profile for the management liability team.
  • Review and approve files utilizing your underwriting authority to get deals done; level of authority will be based on underwriting experience and level of technical expertise.
  • Manage/handle renewals or new business accounts to support underwriting teams and maintain knowledge of underwriting capabilities, appetite, guidelines, and our systems.
  • Develop strong understanding of our product offering, appetite, and wordings to share consistently with brokers.
  • Track and monitor all brokers develop activities of the team identify successful and/or adjust strategies; able to recommend changes or new products based on market intelligence or tweak to the appetite or underwriting strategies.
  • Work closely with Practice Leaders and Specialists group on the technical aspects of the offering to be aligned in our messaging or develop new offerings based on market needs.
  • Entertain strong relationships with other SL and CL teams to leverage cross selling opportunities.
  • Raise the profile of the Management Liability/Crime team overall recognizing and support the manager and underwriters assigned relationships to help drive more growth with their brokers.
  • Assist in portfolio management through governance best practices, profitability, and growth analysis.
  • Help perform underwriting and technical audits.


What you bring to the table:

  • University/degree college diploma
  • Minimum 5+ years of Management Liability underwriting experience with focus on Non-Profit, Private, and Public D&O as well as ancillary lines such as EPL, Fiduciary Liability and Commercial Crime in addition to experience in business development.
  • Extensive Financial Lines broker network knowledge and relationships
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate for solutions and work well with multiple different groups including business development, Intact CL and other SL teams.
  • Effective analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to present strategic roadmaps, and good time management skills.
  • Willing to drive change, recommend solutions, and come with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Willing to travel across central and Atlantic region; focus on primarily on GTA
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
