Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Specialist with substantial knowledge in D&O and Crime insurance to enhance our Corporate Specialty Lines division.
This position is available nationally, allowing you to work from any location across Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and address coverage challenges and emerging trends that affect profitability.
- Support research, development, and project management for strategic Corporate Specialty Lines initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to ensure adherence to corporate standards, delivering quality service, and managing insurance risks effectively.
- Review and make decisions on referrals exceeding the authority of our underwriting teams.
- Conduct thorough business and underwriting due diligence, including compliance and regulatory research.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on regulatory submissions and filings.
- Engage in industry meetings and regulatory discussions.
- Participate in audits of accounts underwritten by Specialty Solutions to ensure quality control, offering recommendations based on findings.
- Develop, review, and update technical policy documentation and manuals as necessary.
- Establish and nurture productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Oversee daily underwriting operations for strategic partnerships.
- Contribute to the creation of new products and corporate guidelines aimed at effectively managing insurance risks and enhancing profitability.
- Research and implement technology-driven solutions for pricing and underwriting.
- Assist in growth and profitability assessments.
- Support the product approval and strategic account review processes.
Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CIP or FCIP designation, or a comparable mix of education and experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in underwriting various forms of D&O and Crime insurance for Public, Private, and Not-for-Profit entities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Strong project management capabilities, including leading, initiating, monitoring, and concluding projects.
- Proficient in making timely decisions in high-pressure situations, addressing complex issues, and providing actionable recommendations.
- Highly organized with a focus on achieving goals while adapting to a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to persuade and challenge effectively.
- Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively with national teams.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform well under tight deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- No Canadian work experience is required; however, eligibility to work in Canada is necessary.
