Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Specialist with extensive knowledge in Directors and Officers (D&O) and Crime insurance to enhance our Corporate Specialty Lines division. This role offers the flexibility to operate from any location across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and address coverage challenges and emerging trends affecting profitability.
  • Support research, development, and project management for strategic initiatives within Corporate Specialty Lines.
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure adherence to corporate standards, delivering quality service and effective risk management.
  • Evaluate and make decisions on referrals that exceed the authority of underwriting teams.
  • Conduct thorough business and underwriting due diligence, including compliance and regulatory assessments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on regulatory submissions and filings.
  • Engage in industry meetings and regulatory discussions.
  • Participate in audits of Specialty Solutions accounts for quality assurance, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and refine technical policy documentation and manuals as necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Oversee daily underwriting operations for strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to the creation of new products and corporate guidelines to effectively manage insurance risks and enhance profitability.
  • Research and implement technology-driven solutions for pricing and underwriting processes.
  • Assist in growth and profitability assessments.
  • Support product approval and strategic account evaluation processes.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CIP or FCIP designation, or equivalent qualifications.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience in underwriting various D&O and Crime insurance for Public, Private, and Not-for-Profit sectors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with a track record of leading and completing initiatives.
  • Decisive in time-sensitive situations, with the ability to address complex challenges and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Highly organized, adaptable to a fast-paced environment while pursuing objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively with national teams.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, demonstrating effective organizational and time management skills.
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • No prior Canadian work experience is required, but eligibility to work in Canada is essential.
