Senior Claims Specialist - Casualty Claims

AXA XL is seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to join our Casualty Claims team in Toronto, Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in resolving and settling claims proactively, while providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing coverage and preparing relevant correspondence to communicate with brokers and insured parties.
  • Providing directions to independent adjusters in investigating claims.
  • Evaluating and negotiating timely resolutions on assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partnering with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
  • Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Consulting with Claims management and Claims Legal on Large Losses and ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
  • Maintaining file notes, preparing internal reporting, timely reserving, issuing payments, and setting of electronic file diary in accordance with best practices guidelines.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on emerging trends in the insurance industry and legislative changes.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in a Bodily Injury/Casualty and Litigation claims handling role.
  • Experience with managing both Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Auto Bodily Injury claims.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable degree.
  • Obtained or working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized; ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Very collaborative and works well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
