Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Technician (Pre-Op) to join our team at Atlantic Beef Products Inc. As a Quality Control Technician (Pre-Op), you will play a critical role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing products to ensure they meet our quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and sample formulations as required.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management regarding any issues with incoming materials.
  • Ensure that correct product names and expiry dates are labeled on finished products.
  • Monitor and maintain TQC, GMP, and HACCP programs, and perform record keeping.
  • Inspect packaging, storage, and shipping facilities to ensure conformance to company sanitation and safety standards.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of production capacity.
  • Ensure General Maintenance Practices by checking whether employees follow proper sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure that meat products are kept at proper temperatures during production and storage to preserve quality.
  • Complete documentation provided by HACCP Program on a daily basis.
  • Follow laboratory safety policies, company policies, procedures, and standards for safety.
  • Participate in and lead CFIA audits related to Pre-Op.
  • Carry out special projects as requested by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in sciences, preferably chemistry, biology, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities change constantly with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good GMP documentation skills.
  • Good analytical and synthesis skills to participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Work Conditions

  • Overtime is required. Willingness to take some weekend and holiday on-call shifts.
  • Ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 60lbs required.
  • Willing to work night shift, this position is from 2am to 10:40am.
