Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe working environment across our projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices, and providing expert guidance on health and safety matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Safety Training and Education: Develop and deliver targeted safety training sessions to ensure all team members are knowledgeable about safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct Site Inspections and Risk Assessments: Regularly inspect project sites to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Develop and Refine Safety Plans: Collaborate with project managers to create and update site-specific safety plans that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate Incidents and Provide Recommendations: Lead incident investigations and provide detailed reports with actionable recommendations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
  • Engage with Field Teams: Reinforce safety standards and best practices with field teams to ensure a culture of safety across all projects.
  • Analyze Safety Data: Analyze safety data to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and recommend improvements to our health and safety programs.
  • Support Operations: Provide expert guidance on health and safety matters to operations teams, enhancing safe work procedures and providing input on new initiatives.
  • Manage HSE Documentation: Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of health and safety documentation, including training records, incident reports, and safety plans.
  • Stay Current with Industry Regulations: Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance across all projects.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Ability to obtain Reliability Security Clearance.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to lead safety training and education programs.
  • Experience conducting site inspections and risk assessments, with a track record of implementing successful safety improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret safety data and develop actionable insights.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
