Applied Research Technologist II

Camosun Innovates is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Applied Research Technologist II (ART II) to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for liaising with industry partners, faculty, and students on a wide range of projects and technical tools.
Key Responsibilities:-
Project Management:
- Act as primary contact with industry partners regarding project needs, scope, milestones, and technical activities.
- Oversee student activities on applicable projects, ensuring timelines and budget are met.
- Develop and maintain project management software to track progress and work performed.

Technical Expertise:
- Design and develop technical products, including manufacturing equipment, mechanical assemblies, and computer software.
- Calibrate, operate, maintain, and repair a wide range of equipment, including five-axis machining centers and 3D scanning equipment.
- Provide technical expertise to support grant applications and secure funding for projects.

Team Collaboration:
- Act as a resource to the team in specific areas of expertise, including mechanical engineering, electronics and computer engineering, and computer science.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Participate in weekly management and other applicable meetings.

Customer Service:
- Provide effective and efficient customer service to industry clients, faculty, and students.
- Generate quotes and invoices related to current projects.
- Diploma in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Three years of related experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of project management practices, electrical circuits, electronic components, and control systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
