Camosun College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Applied Research Technologist II to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for liaising with industry partners, faculty, and students on a wide range of projects and technical tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Oversee activities of students on applicable projects, ensuring timelines and budget are met.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop and maintain technical knowledge and skills, including the use of specialized equipment and software.
  • Client Relations: Act as a primary contact with industry partners, providing effective and efficient customer service.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
Areas of ExpertiseMechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing and Fabrication: Use shop tools to manufacture, repair, and fabricate parts, including composites.
  • Design and Development: Design and develop products, including mechanical assemblies and parts.
Electronics and Computer Engineering
  • Conceptualization and Design: Participate in conceptualizing mechatronic automation systems.
  • Debugging and Testing: Diagnose electronic faults and analyze, document, develop, and test computer software and hardware.
Computer Science
  • Assessment and Planning: Assess client criteria and needs, planning the approach for development, considering program architecture and different programming languages.
  • Development and Testing: Create graphical assets, obtain user feedback, and perform other related duties.
Qualifications
  • Education: Diploma in a relevant field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience: Three years of related experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Skills: Strong technical skills, including knowledge of project management practices, electrical circuits, and electronic components.
