Seeking a Senior Human Resource Consultant to provide human resource services, including consultant support, director support, human resources representation, management support, labour relations, employee relations, recruitment functions, organizational design, talent management, learning, education and development, employee engagement, HR metrics and reporting, and talent acquisition and recruitment.

Job Description:

The Senior Human Resource Consultant will report to the site Director, Human Resources Services, and be responsible for providing human resource services to the department, including:

  • Consultant Support: Providing consultative direction and coaching to Human Resource Consultants, Managers and Supervisors on issues that do not require Director involvement.
  • Director Support: Responding to questions and addressing issues normally raised to the Director in their absence.
  • Human Resources Representation: Serving as a human resources representative on site and/or regional committees or working groups, and presenting at Human Resources Leadership.
  • Management Support: Consulting on issues related to Performance Management, Attendance Support and Assistance Program, and Respectful Workplace Complaints.
  • Labour Relations: Interpreting collective agreement and non-union policies, working with Managers on application of progressive discipline and grievance processes, participating in collective bargaining, and supporting the planning and implementation of Labour Adjustments Initiatives.
  • Employee Relations: Investigating workplace complaints, facilitating dispute resolution, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Recruitment Functions: Initiating and implementing recruitment activities to meet regular and special resource needs, and providing a variety of other personnel services.
  • Organizational Design: Supporting clients in organizational design and re-design, reviewing and writing job descriptions, and implementing organizational effectiveness planning.
  • Talent Management: Supporting talent management implementation, developing learning plans, and coaching employees.
  • Learning, Education and Development: Supporting employee and leadership education, learning and development, and writing learning plans.
  • Employee Engagement: Leading employee engagement initiatives to create a great work environment.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Using metrics, data, and reporting to support client needs and identify areas for workplace improvement.
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Leading and supporting recruitments, using social media platforms, and conducting sourcing, interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and orientation.

Requirements:

  • Seven years of experience in a unionized environment successfully managing human resource functions in progressively responsible HR roles.
  • Undergraduate degree in human resources or a relevant discipline combined with a post-graduate certificate in human resources management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation with current membership in good standing or equivalent is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities as described in the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework, including a passion for customer service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.

Additional Requirements:

  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
  • Must not hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
