About the Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) plays a vital role in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) department, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality patient care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Specimen procurement, receipt, and processing
  • Data entry and media preparation
  • Clerical duties and customer service activities
  • Supply management and troubleshooting

As an MLA, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate patient identification and specimen handling, adhering to strict safety and infection prevention protocols. You will work independently, using good judgment and maintaining a professional appearance. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for success in this role.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Ability to accurately number and label specimens
  • Basic computer skills, with preference for Meditech experience
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel
  • Competencies in other languages an asset

Hours
  • Long Assignment, Full Time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$26.27 Hourly
