About the Opportunity

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will work in collaboration with and support all members of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) by performing various functions relating to the pre and post-analytical phases of testing. These functions include:

  • Specimen procurement, receipt, and processing
  • Data entry
  • Media, reagent, and smear preparation
  • Sterilization
  • Clerical duties
  • Loading specimens on an analyzer

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Supply management
  • Troubleshooting
  • Customer service activities

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual with:

  • A recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Manual dexterity to handle sharp instruments and small objects
  • Ability to accurately number and label specimens and file slides and requisitions
  • Ability to adapt to updates and changes in operating procedures
  • Basic computer skills, with Meditech experience preferred
  • Access to reliable transportation, as travel may be required
  • Competencies in other languages, with French preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, part-time position with 45 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $26.27.
