RYGIEL Supports for Community Living is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Environmental Service Manager

Title: Senior Environmental Service Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Non-Union, Perm. Full-Time)
Location: Hamilton, ON

Position Summary:
As a Senior Environmental Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the satisfaction and safety of people supported, families, and employees within our community. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment, managing budgets, and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a positive work environment to engage and motivate environmental services staff.
  • Health & Safety: Minimize or eliminate health and safety risks for people supported, employees, and visitors.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all installed equipment is in working order or serviced as needed.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage capital spend and department budget within established guidelines.

What You Will Do:
  • Is responsible to oversee and execute all aspects of the Maintenance department
  • As directed and in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, performs a variety of routine maintenance, servicing and repair operations to maintain home, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition.
  • Responsible for effectively scheduling & supervising maintenance and repair work not completed in-house.
  • Manages ongoing maintenance requirements and carries out preventative maintenance programs as directed.
  • Notifies the Director of Inclusive Living and Experience of significant building/equipment malfunctions/problems
  • Coordinates specialized work, such as electrical or plumbing, to skilled trades/outside contractors and monitors work performed.
  • Conducts regular maintenance rounds to ensure all life safety and building and support systems are functioning properly.
  • Implements and monitors quality improvement.
  • Participates in budget preparation and control.
  • Focuses on a person led approach while maintaining the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Displays a sense of spontaneity and ability to change the moment positively for people
  • Presents a positive approach, not controlling language and actions towards people.
  • Maintains inventories and assures safe storage of all supplies.
  • Participates in committee meetings such as infection control, quality management and safety, as required.
  • Completes performance appraisals of associates as required.
  • Provides ongoing associate education.
  • Maintains the staffing schedules as applicable.
  • Promotes the Vision, Mission and Beliefs
  • Supervises fire prevention and fire drill procedures.
  • Is a Certified Joint Health and Safety Member and participates in all inspections and meetings as part of that role
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent is required. Experience: Minimum of ten years in a managerial or supervisory capacity in environmental services/maintenance within a unionized environment.
  • Certifications: Must have a trade certification
  • Knowledge: Understanding of building systems including basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and emergency systems.
  • Budget Management: Experience managing budgets and financial spending related to capital spending and overall maintenance.

  • Background Check: Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and carrying out strategic and capital plans.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, databases, and relevant software; strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Competencies: Customer focus, strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe workplace environment by enforcing standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
