Unit Overview

Customer Support Services offers a range of essential services to clients in both clinical and non-clinical settings within Hamilton Health Sciences and to external partners. The program aims to function as an integrative entity among support services, ensuring the highest quality of service delivery for the benefit of our patients and the community. Services include Portering, Linen Management, Clinical and Core Housekeeping, Room Scheduling, Learning Centre, Service Response Centre, and Waste Management.

Position Overview

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Environmental Aide provides crucial environmental and unit support in patient care areas. This role operates in accordance with the responsibilities outlined for Environmental Aides.

Work Schedule

Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in cleaning or healthcare is an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with unit staff, accepting assignments and following instructions.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and organize work based on unit requirements.
  • Proficiency in using domestic and commercial cleaning equipment, as well as handling cleaning agents and germicides.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, and lifting using proper body mechanics.

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be submitted to Employee Health Services.
