About the Opportunity

The Department of Medicine is required to provide timely and relevant information regarding clinical service, academic and administrative deliverables to the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, Dalhousie University, and Nova Scotia Health. The Senior Systems Analyst is key to the design and development of this critical information. They are responsible for the operational support, analysis and maintenance of application software in accordance with established standards. The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for the design and maintenance of a data warehouse for the Department of Medicine (DoM) used to measure both quantitative and qualitative performance indicators for the 15 Divisions. The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for any internal information systems used by the DoM and directs the work of a Data Analyst. This team is responsible for ongoing data integrity and the production of Quarterly, Annual and Ad hoc report deliverables to the DoM in a timely manner.

The Senior Systems Analyst acts as the first point of contact for triaging, responding to and resolving application issues including issue triage/resolution coordination with stakeholders. Working independently or with vendors to resolve issues or implement fixes and tracks resolution progress and escalates to management when appropriate.

About You
  • University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering Required
  • Minimum years experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated leadership skills with emphasis on decision making, problem solving and communication
  • A broad base of knowledge and experience in the design, development and operation of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle database is considered an asset
  • Maintenance and support experience with enterprise clinical information systems an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and research new technologies
  • Knowledge of the healthcare setting an preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of database design concepts and information systems
  • Expert-level skills with Microsoft Office Products, specifically MS Access and Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL preferred
  • Familiarity with modern database and business intelligence software including Business Objects and/or Tableau
  • Excellent team and group management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to learn new concepts and procedures quickly, without formal instruction
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work productively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to understand the data needs of users and produce corresponding reports
  • Self motivated and the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment
Hours
  • Permanent Full Time / 100% / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$ $47.01 Hourly
