The Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a highly skilled Research Security Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our research security team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing educational and promotional materials to ensure understanding of federal guidance and requirements in regards to research security when applying to federal grant-funding agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive research security program, including educational and promotional materials, to ensure compliance with federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Conduct research and analysis on research security-related topics, providing advice and guidance to senior university officials.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create value-added advice and develop training and awareness-building sessions.
  • Establish effective relationships with counterparts in other universities and leverage professional networks to seek advice on research security.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on research security-related government policies and geopolitical trends.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree or equivalent professional designation with a minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Master's Degree and prior experience in the design, development, and delivery of training courses and educational programs are preferred.
