Your Opportunity

At the National Research Council Canada, we are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our Health, Safety and Environment Branch, you will play a critical role in supporting our research and development activities while ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and advice to management and employees on health, safety, and environmental matters, including the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safe work procedures to mitigate hazards and prevent accidents.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees in health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Collaborate with research teams to ensure that their activities are conducted in a safe and healthy manner, and that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent accidents and environmental harm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as science, engineering, or industrial hygiene.
  • Significant experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in a research or industrial setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including employees, management, and external partners.
