Role Overview

As a Buyer, you'll execute strategic and operational objectives by managing suppliers who align with our cost, quantity, and quality requirements. Your expertise will drive efficiency and contribute to our overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Purchasing Programs:

  • Analyze sales records and inventory levels to develop strategic purchasing programs.
  • Facilitate on-time material availability by collaborating with suppliers.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal associates.
  • Evaluate proposals, select suppliers, and award contracts.
  • Actively participate in new supplier selection.

Purchase Order Management:

  • Handle purchase orders based on production demands and inventory levels.
  • Expedite orders when necessary and communicate impacts to the production schedule.
  • Resolve discrepancies in pricing, late deliveries, and other issues.

Negotiation and Cost Control:

  • Perform pricing reviews and negotiate costs within budgetary limits.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in buying, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • SCMP/SMT certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with a specialization in Excel.
  • Experience with ERP software is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to be responsive and have strong customer service skills when communicating with vendors/suppliers.
  • Understanding of procurement practices and contract terms.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry/environment is considered an asset.
