Job Summary

CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Production Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for managing the complete buying process, working closely with production, manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure optimal quality, pricing, and delivery of components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commodity Management: Manage Fasteners' commodity, comprising approximately 1,000-1,500 SKUs, to ensure efficient procurement and inventory control.
  • Communication and Decision-Making: Collaborate with the Engineering team to address deviations, specification changes, plating, and raw materials, ensuring seamless communication and informed decision-making.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery of components.
  • RFx Preparation and Analysis: Prepare and analyze RFx documents to ensure accurate pricing and delivery of components.
  • Order Management: Coordinate the ordering and follow-up of parts for production, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing delays.
  • Contract Management: Manage the current contract template, adapting it to the current market reality, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of sourcing/purchasing experience, with a strong background in managing large numbers of SKUs.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read drawings and technical specifications, with some knowledge of metal plating being a definite asset.
  • Soft Skills: Well-organized, task-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-changing environment.
  • Contract Management: Experience in managing international contracts, with a strong understanding of contract law and negotiation techniques.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes) and any ERP systems, with a strong understanding of KANBAN principles.
