Join our team as a Payroll Specialist and contribute to the success of the Bertossi Group, a dynamic and growing hospitality company.

Under the guidance of the Controller, this role will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Nova Scotia labour standards and tax legislation.

  • Process payroll weekly, verifying timesheets and communicating with managers and HR as needed.
  • Track and process payroll adjustments, including employee benefits, uniform deductions, and vacation accruals.
  • Provide exceptional service to employees and managers, addressing payroll inquiries and issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with evolving tax legislation and Nova Scotia labour standards.
  • Issue accurate Records of Employment to Service Canada.
  • Prepare payroll reports for year-end processing, including T4s.
  • Prepare daily and weekly labour reporting for each restaurant/shop, compared against food and beverage sales.
  • Administer the Blue Cross Health Benefits Program, including employee setup and monthly accounting reconciliation.
  • Assist with WCB and OHS administration as required.
  • Support the accounting team with additional duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, with additional accounting experience considered an asset.
  • Diploma or university degree in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of restaurant point of sale systems considered an asset.
  • Experience working in the hospitality industry considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Payworks considered an asset.
